Tuning Out
Once again, my bff, Suzy, rallied me to take time off from the onslaught of bad news inflicted on the world by the Republican Party of the United States.
Suzy’s son, (my godson), attends LSU, so we planned a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras back in November (the last time she forced me to take a mental health break). Since then, there had been a terrorist attack and airline “disruptions,” but we forged ahead as planned.
It is with this in mind that I express my gratitude to all the defenders of democracy for holding down the fort while I tuned out for a few days.
A brief summary of my experience:
I had no expectations, but I didn’t not expect such passionate participants of the party! In addition to parades, Friday was also “Locals Day” when residents get serious about cosplay.
Beignets & Booze
My bff is much younger and a marathon runner and drinker, so I kept up, but at my own pace. I experienced almost everything New Orleans has to offer as we twinned in matching costumes.
Music, mysticism, and voodoo everywhere added a whole other dimension to the festivities.
So, now I’m easing back into the real world with a mimosa in the Delta lounge (sorry for the typos). Back to the political grind tomorrow.

Why not do both?

Keir Starmer and Emanuelle Macron are working closely to bolster Ukraine.

So, Lorraine Evanoff, your lifestyle with dear friends having a blast in New Orleans -- Nancy and I lived near New Orleans for 32 years -- that is part and parcel of your personal integrity and together, in culture, even in outrage, we can snub Trump and resist SMARTLY.
My cause is the innocent immigrants that neo-Fascists Vance/Tramp/and sadist Thomas Homan oppresses.

The most outrageous artists in cultured, outrageous Weimar and Alexanderplatz (Berlin), were ones best placed to RESIST.
Culture -- including outrageous fun -- is part of the backbone of persons who resist.
It is the Brownshirts -- Orange TRAMP etc -- who are self-loathing and need both hyperbolic praise bordering on worship, and whose self-hatred puts them on the rampage against freedom fighters like Zelenskyy and against minorities.
