Blaming the Victims

Too many pundits on the Left continue to blame Democrats for what is happening. I call that blaming the victims. On the other hand, why have so many traitors been able to infiltrate the Democratic party?
Being a moderate from a very red state who caucuses with Democrats, like Joe Manchin, is one thing. Manchin’s corruption made him able to walk that line, so I guess we should have been grateful. But charlatans like Fetterman, Sinema, and Gabbard, who won election by campaigning as progressives, represent a whole other level of corruption. We don’t know when they were compromised, before or after being elected, so we must be more vigilant than ever.
Why haven’t any Democrats infiltrated high levels of the Republican party and then flipped? Because only a Republican predator bereft of integrity would create an entirely fake persona to win an election. That’s double agent, Russian asset level deception.
Take convicted felon George Santos, who created a fake identity and rode the pendulum swing to the Right after Biden won in 2020, to beat Democrat Robert Zimmerman in solid blue NY03 and become the first openly LGBTQ Republican elected to Congress. When the truth came out, Santos became the first Republican expelled from Congress, (five Democrats have been expelled), and Trump commuted his sentence.
Take Michael Cohen, not a politician, but a registered Democrat, who, after serving jail time for Trump, recreated his entire persona from mafia fixer to victim. He even became a star of independent liberal news darlings Meidas Touch. But everything he wrote had a dig against Democrats, blaming the victims, and I said so many times with expletive-laced comments on his Substack pieces. When he flipped back to Trump and was dumped by the Left, it was satisfying my instincts were proven right.
My instincts are tingling again. Speaking of blaming rape victims, candidate for Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine, Graham Platner, is unapologetic about his past statements doing just that. Maine voters have an opportunity to replace five-term incumbent and rapist-apologist Susan Collins with an accomplished advocate for women, former governor Janet Mills. But Platner has endorsements from Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Why do progressives love risking our democracy?
Lastly, take ex-husband of Trump’s vile 2016 campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, George Conway, who is running as a Democrat in NY12 to replace Jerry Nadler. At least Conway registered Democrat, unlike California Republican House Rep Kevin Kiley, who changed to Independent and will continue to caucus with Republicans through the end of his term. Conway has also been a fierce anti-Trump activist. But voter mistrust is part of the Republican strategy, which includes lying, cheating, and stealing to win. Use your best judgment and VOTE BLUE!

I don't understand how the Mainers overlooked former Governor Janet Mills or how on earth Graham Platner got the endorsement of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
I don't get how we are stuck with the likes of Fetterman, Sinema and Tulsi Gabbard.
Why on earth cannot the GOP be penetrated?
The thing is, having grown up in Orange County California during the 1950s, I saw the BEGINNING of this movement.
The right-wing extremists have worked for decades. When the nightly news of the 1960s was Walter Cronkite, Chet Hutley and David Brinkley ("Good night, Chet. Good night, David"), we indeed had a non-emotional, factual narrative for our country.
Even THEN, the right-wing was active in spreading conspiracy theories and recruiting candidates.
They slowly started winning the boring elections. Superintendent of Education, yawn. County supervisor. Judge. Yawn, yawn.
Look at Mitch McConnell. His work culminated in scores of years of GOP work, from Robert Bork forward.
Remember: Nixon wanted to FIRE Archibald Cox. Resignations in Department of Justice. The remaining DOJ official availabe to fire Archibald Cox was . . . Robert Bork.
It was Robert Bork who fired Archibald Cox.
It took a lot of nakedness and exhibitionism on Ronnie Reagan's part to nominate so low a person as Robert Bork to the Supreme Court.
But over decades, we became used to it.
Like when Bush put Clarence Thomas. Who did Clarence Thomas replace? THURGOOD MARSHALL -- who had argued Brown v. Board of Education!!!
How NAKED could the GOP get??
Then the GOP used Lee Atwater for the most naked, dirty, disgusting campaigns.
There is no sewer water dirty enough to deter its use in a GOP campaign.
So, for some reason, the laws of Mother Nature make us Democrats the nice guys. The GOP get to claim their allegiance to Flag and Jesus Christ and meanwhile sink their snouts into the lowest gutter.
Yeah, I think that sums it up about right.
Meanwhile: I LOVE, just LOVE how Floorles will quietly respond when Ms Lorraine goes quietly, "Meow, meow!" Floofles quietly echoes you, and she sounds ENDEARINGLY spoiled in love.
Like a kittie should be!
The dynamic of politics at this moment in time appears to be Republicans with actually ALL the momentum of "effective action" & the Democrats reacting as best as they can, with some success.
SOME success, and the problem is that the successes the Democrats are able to achieve are not the "show-stoppers." Those still come from trump & his MAGA Republicans.
Is this the Democrat's fault?
The reality remains. The true counterweight to trump has not yet appeared. One cannot "fault" for this. But it is absolutely correct & necessary to point this out repeatedly until, maybe, that message of how We the People are viewing "our" leaders touches the right individuals & organizations to do what they can on their ends to find, clear the way, and fully support that counterweight because without it we will continue "doing our best & hoping" but unable to actually "do."
We the People will vote in November in massive droves. Our blue votes will pour in, in vote mail pickup box locations, in in-person voting, in mail-in voting, in overseas voting, by you-name-it voting. Our votes will flood the zone.
There is no question at all the Democratic Party will swamp the Republicans in November for the House AND Senate. And it will happen because We the People are PISSED OFF.
Pissed off Americans roused themselves into action in 1774 & proved they could get rid of "Mad King" King George the Third.
Pissed off Americans are rousing themselves now in 2026 & will prove they can get rid of "Psycho-Pedo" King Don the Turd.
