Hybrid Warfare

This has been the week from hell for me personally. But it started out pleasantly, early Sunday morning, as a guest on the podcast of my fellow Palmer Report contributor Robert Harrington. Harrington recently joined Substack and is already a rising star, reaching 43^rd in U.S. Politics!

This was Harrington’s 4^th podcast, with co-host, Bart Sullivan and me joining in a lively conversation covering a lot of territory. Most interesting was how everything is connected, true to the theme in my Louise Mosow novels.

Much of the discussion involved our efforts to counter the billionaire-controlled media narrative foisted on Americans, and offer historical context on decades of right wing corruption and Republican efforts to dismantle our democracy.

I touched on the new “Hybrid Warfare” about which investigative reporter Heidi Siegmund Cuda aka Bette Dangerous often sounds the alarm. Russian active measures have evolved past simple social media disinformation, infiltrating political movements, disseminating disinformation campaigns blending extremist networks and psy-ops, to erode democratic norms and cultivate cult-like behaviors.

Former Biden administration military intelligence expert, Jackie Singh, also writes about credible theories of Hybrid Warfare terrorism, including the Pacific Palisades, California fire, and now Spokane, Washington.

Bart Sullivan brought up historical figures that fit into the narrative, namely the fascinating WWII resister, Denis Sefton Delmer, who used Nazi propaganda to help the Allies defeat Hitler. Sullilvan is developing his own counter propaganda network, to be announced.

We shared our mutual amazement in the fact that if someone had asked us 10 years ago if we would become civics mavens and political analysts, we certainly would not have predicted it.

My passion for politics began after college and moving to Paris. Having grown up indoctrinated Republican, I had voted for Reagan when I was 18. In Paris, friends and teachers taught me the basics, Left vs Right, how Democrats help Americans, while Republicans offer pulling oneself up by one’s bootstraps, all while the wealthy steal our boots. Living in Paris, where public protests aka manifestations are common, one is immersed in political activism, ended up converting me to a fierce Democrat.
