When I get “likes” on my comments, it is typically greater than 90% female. I’ve noticed that ratio, or close to it, seems to hold for commenters in general. This election will be won with the spearhead of the “Band of Sisters” at the point of the spear. This Band of Sisters will be disportionately populated by women of color who will not accept the shackles of old white men.

Keep energizing these women and recruiting those of us men that do not want to use religion to attempt to enslave women.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

That's what I'm getting. I can really feel it. And we're harnessing that energy.

Thank you for being with us Jim!

Kris's avatar

Well this sister is LOViNG that AOC drew back the curtains on the shit show. It only confirmed what we already Suspected - clooneys, reiners, moores, schiffs, Bennetts, nadler, Hines see a pattern ??

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

She's fierce, Kris!!

marcus816's avatar

Bennett is my Senator, I wrote and told him I was “sorely disappointed in his disloyalty to Pres Biden”. I should have told him to GFH, and I may yet.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Disappointed works, but could be stronger 💙

Still, we have to unite and stick together.

Sinister Thoughts's avatar

I called his office. I told them that those of us who went to the polls in the Presidential primary chose President Biden by over 90% and that it would be disrespectful of those of us who voted if they ignored that vote and that margin.

Jim Sanders's avatar

Gee. Let me think about this. Are they all men? Are they all white? Yes. As a white man, or part of the subset, being in the “in”, I do not trust white men. Expansion, not sure I trust men in general. Unfortunately, “TRUSTING ANYONE” male or female has boundary conditions.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Are they wealthy? Power hungry?

Patris's avatar

I couldn’t have enjoyed Holt squirming like a weasel (apologies to weasels everywhere) more. Biden made him look as disingenuous as he was. Loved it.

Chris Rey's avatar

Holt was very weasely. He’s really going downhill. Has Holt become so wealthy he feels he needs Trump tax cuts?

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

I'll never understand that kind of short sighted miserly type. Just pay your fucking taxes!

Also, we can't trust former Republicans or Never Trumper Republicans. Their true side always ends up coming out.

Robin Birdfeather's avatar

Been googling ego development in children which begins to help me understand the ununderstandable. Is anybody looking into these messy adults and their upbringings, which we need to learn from if we're parenting anybody or grandparenting...

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

I'm one of them Robin, indoctrinated Republican from birth. 30% of my fam are MAGA. For me to wake up, when I moved to Paris after college, my French friend sat me down and explained to me what Left and Right actually meant. I was shocked to learn that the party of the work ethic pull ourselves up by our bootstraps weren't the good guys and were definitely not looking out for working class folks like my family. It infuriated me and I've been pissed off ever since!

Robin Birdfeather's avatar

Having an upper class father from an Episcopal Repub orientation and a mother brought up in a Montana homesteader cabin has let us say given me a very broad view of possibility. Fortunately the standards of behavior and outlook interestingly enough were more aligned than might be supposed. But then I had to deal with two more stepfathers the last of him was working class conservative, back when they had common sense because we used to discuss politics. I went to school until college with working class kids for which I am ever grateful for the practical basic way that life was lived in semi rural northeast PA. Then just give it more flavor I attended the way ahead of their time Antioch College, twice. On top of that I am so grateful for being Jewish which I got into only in my late 40s. Because if there's a long view around that one is it. 3,500 years give or take.

Exactly. They have been talking about the policies that comprise Project 2025 for three decades at least. They were good with those policies until trump. As far as I can tell, they love Project 2025, they just don't like stinky don.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

They are utter authoritarians. That is all.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

That was my impression too Patris!

kstratt's avatar

Hear, hear. Am so viscerally angry at the Vichy Democrats.

Biden, after all, is the only candidate who ever defeated Trump.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Agreed, it's getting nuts Kstratt.

The media already moved on the disintegrating monster's shit show of a speech. Disgusting!

Robin Birdfeather's avatar

Didn't watch it and never do because I already know what's coming and I don't wish to pollute my brain... Thank you for hanging in there.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Me neither. But I closely followed the coverage on Twitter.

Barbara Nelson's avatar

Same here, can’t stand his voice or the nonsense he spews.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Definitely triggering, yuck!

Chris Rey's avatar

When a good Irishman like Joe Biden says with Irish☘️aplomb, “God love you,“ you must attend closely to the tone and context of the words.

In one context, “God love you,” can intend a profound, Fatherly❤️love and caring to the recipient.

However, in that moment when we saw Joe lean forward in his chair, at Lester Holt, saying, “God love you,“ one could hear the sublime Irish power of his intention which was, to say it politely, quite the opposite of what these words might seem to convey. I instantly burst out laughing loudly at the irony.

In the softest tone, Joe can be quite ferocious. You really have to listen. It’s his style.

And because too many people are too thick to grasp this fact about Joe, I suspect his handlers instructed him to raise his voice and shout, as we have seen seen in many of the speeches he’s delivered since the debate.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

That's awesome, Chris. Thanks for this insight. I responded that way too. It was impressive. Speak softly and carry a big subtext, ha ha!

Rue Ryuzaki's avatar

It’s like “ Bless your heart”, “Precious”, & calling a man “sorry” here in eastern NC.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

It's definitely not always a blessing😆

Angela Vitale, PhD's avatar

True, basically it means, only God could love you (and your mother) right now. And that’s the most polite manner of phrasing it.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Thank you for the translation. I wasn't quite able to articulate it. My interpretation was "Fuck You" ha ha! But yours seems much more like Biden's meaning.

C Leonard's avatar

I interpreted it as “fuck you very much!” Same difference, but WAAAY more effective… I truly love the way Biden can come right back around and dismount with dignity!!! Def a 9.5 there😉

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Yes it was Biden's please fuck off letter😆

Chris Rey's avatar

Our man Brandon is an Olympic Politician.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Ha! Dark Brandon doing back flips and matrix moves on our opponents.

Chris Rey's avatar

Yes. It was “Fuck you very much,” in Celtic☘️

So sweet!💋

Chris Rey's avatar

Joe has a great filter and “rich” vocabulary. We know he can express himself with different language when he thinks the microphone is off.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Well said. That is why he's POTUS and I'm just a foul-mouthed feisty activist!

Chris Rey's avatar

Joe’s unfiltered expressions, accidentally made near hot mikes, are famous.

Joe is an activist too, in his way. For example, see what he did just yesterday: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/19/climate/biden-administration-single-use-plastic-reduction.html?unlocked_article_code=1.8k0.X7WD.69Ij0we8aYvg&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

That's right! Thanks for the reminder. He's a bad ass! And most progressive POTUS ever, who knew!!!😎🤩

C Leonard's avatar

GREAT STORY!!! I terminated my NYT a while back so I LOVE reading these kind of stories; and I miss them, as well

Thank you for sharing, Chris!!!

Thanks Harridan! 🙏🏻💙

He should throw in some ‘bless your heart’s’

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

He made up a new one and I love it!

marcus816's avatar

Yes. Bless Lester’s heart.

Bravo, Lorraine.

Jena Ball's avatar

You are most welcome. Sorry to have forgotten the “d” at the end of “and.” It’s fixed now :-)

I didn't even notice. 🥰

1. I grew up in the 50s and 60s. I ain’t going back.

2. I want a president that gets stuff done. I don’t need a raconteur, a clown, or an entertainer. I don’t care if he speaks softly and shuffles.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Same Jane! Honestly, over the past 20 years if you told be Biden would be the greatest defender of our rights, I would not have guessed that. But he has truly been one of the most progressive POTUS in history. Amazing!

Larry Jaffe's avatar

You clearly addressed my concerns. Thank you

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Thanks for reading and commenting, Larry! It helps me too to try to make sense of what's happening.

Lorraine Evanoff: With only 108 days till election, Biden/Harris can respond to Trump‘s disastrous 90 minute performance last night with the Happy Warrior War on MAGA-bigotry.

Our team needs to balance an all out HAPPY WARRIOR WARFARE on PRIME TIME TV with needed rest to store strength for the battle — during WWII, Winston Churchill took long, daily naps that kept his mind fresh for intense strategic planning.

Our Happy Warriors need to challenge their truly pathetic foes to frequent debates — against the senile, meandering, pitiful Trump and the pathetic Vance who sucks up to Trump, after Vance had compared Trump to Hitler not so long ago.

On the debate stage against Trump and Vance, Biden and Harris must be at their best to crush the foe.

They can do this.

We owe Biden and Harris undivided loyalty.

Biden and Harris owe an unrelenting HAPPY WARRIOR THRUST with aggressive confrontation against the foe, and debates to crush the foe rhetorically.

President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris must electrify the voting public and be on top, Olympic performance level.

We must expect no less where women‘s health and our freedoms are at stake.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

I think Biden/Harris have been doing all that with great fierceness.

It's shocking how loud the corrupt media is though. I'm constantly arguing and debunking a lot of shit that comes out of my friends' mouths these days, in total panic from the lies being spewed by the media.

Armand Beede's avatar

Lorraine Evanoff: We need to win, and the President of the United States can call confrontational press conferences several times per week to get for himself and his team the news coverage and to take the aggressive with hostile reporters and challenge Trump to face him repeatedly on the debate stage.

The press is very biased and has a financial stake in disrupting the emotions of their viewers.

That is a given.

But as President, Mr. Biden can command the public‘s attention with a dense series of confrontational press conferences to show every Joe Sixpack in America his mettle.

As long as we are in a position to feel bad about the press coverage, the Democrats have not yet done their all to save Democracy.

The media create the fog of battle.

Our battle staff and Commander in Chief must be ready for any situation, including the unfair press.

I was with the Departments of Navy and Air Force for 41 years, and we usually faced battlefront that was unfairly slanted in favor of the foe. Our Commander in Chief is smarter than lame media and has the press tools to gain daily attention at the top of his game, Lester Holt and George Stephanapolis be damned, and with Admiral James Farragut -. „Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!“

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

It's so interesting to witness this powerful "5th Estate" of amazing independent news sources, Meidas Touch, Palmer Report, et al, emerging out of necessity. It gives me hope!

C Leonard's avatar

Wow, fascinating! Wonderful insight! Thank you for sharing, Armand!

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Armand is profoundly knowledgeable!

Chris Rey's avatar

Beautifully expressed, Armand!

Robin Birdfeather's avatar

The American Press of MSM stature so to speak has been corrupted ever since at least the reign of W.R.Hearst and his "If it bleeds it leads" so-called philosophy of money making as a primary interest more than news in its broadest sense. Some soul searching is way past being in order, is standing aside while the very democracy that allows it is being wounded. Talk about hypocrisy.

What would Thomas Paine have done? More than he already did.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

That is a great point Robin and Armand! If it bleeds it leads was the beginning of the end.

Armand Beede's avatar

Lorraine Evanoff and Robin Birdfeather: 100 years ago, Hearst ruined the great comedian Roswald („Fatty“) Arbuckle over a tragic death of a screen actress a a New Year‘s Party. Mr. Arbuckle was cleared at trial, but Hearst had ruined Mr, Arbuckle forever.

Oh, and Citizen Kane!

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Oh no! Maybe that will finally make me see Citizen Kane in a new light. Until now, I've found that movie dark and uninteresting.

Laureen Kochanowicz's avatar

I’m voting for Biden. If he is forced to quit I will write him in on the ballot and move out of the country

Jim Sanders's avatar

That is not helpful IMO. Let’s watch and see what cards are dealt.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Agreed, Jim. It will all work out. But it is infuriating.

Jim Sanders's avatar

It seems the electorate has never liked flip-floppers. Vance has flip-flopped on Trump. If skillful, she could destroy Vance by contrasting his past positions on Trump’s positions and shine a bright light on that phony cockroach.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Great point, Jim.

But if you read this piece in the Atlantic today, they are actually working the flip flopping to their advantage! It's active measures PsyOps!

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/07/trump-vance-fake-populism/679100/?gift=Il2GNYm_pU7FmWkp4jUMvOKjvB-ot68IKk3JH95Pp78&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=social

Jim Sanders's avatar

Ok, read it. We need a strategy to get these mega wealthy roaches battling each other because I think the Christo-fascist see all light through a filter of their religion where other light issues are screened out.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

They have no shame in their hypocrisy.

Kris's avatar

Cancel them too folks

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

I have been disappointed even the Atlantic has gone downhill, but this piece was pretty interesting and brings up a lot of good points.

Elizabeth Behnke's avatar

Yes! Well said.

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Thank you! I’m starting to think the bedwetters will see the error of their ways in a week or two

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Agreed, Richard. I'm convinced this is all a Pelosi style modus operandi that drives popular opinion until Dems take strong action, just like Nancy held out on the impeachment until there was a lot of anger and insistence she take action. Thanks for commenting. The bedwetters spark to trigger our cannon fire!

Lorraine, women in some ways have already been sent back 50 years, thanks to the Supreme Court's radical legislation from the bench. But there are so many other things that my generation of women activists were able to encourage lawmakers to undertake in the 1960s and 1970s which are also currently in danger. In Justice Clarence Thomas' concurring opinion to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, he wrote that other cases that protect the right to contraception, to same-sex marriage and to engage in private, consensual sex acts "are not at issue" in this particular decision. But he also wrote that "in future cases," the court "should reconsider" the decisions in the cases that established those rights. The thought of Trump regaining the White House and having another opportunity to nominate a member of the Supreme Court makes me ill.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

100%, we're back to clawing our way back. It's sickening. But they are about to feel our wrath!
