In a major loss for Trump, Senate Majority Leader John Thune declared the ‘talking filibuster’ for the SAVE Act is dead. Almost immediately afterwards, the Washington Post published an article sounding the alarm that the Trump administration has drafted an executive order to declare a national emergency to take control of the 2026 elections.

But the timing of this “breaking news” is suspicious. MAGA’s “secret plan” to steal the 2026 elections is so secret that it was leaked to the Washington Post, who published an article causing pundits to run around like their hair is on fire? Hmm.

Thom Hartmann asserts that news of the 17-page draft executive order to declare election interference in the 2026 midterms is a test run to persuade the public that our elections can’t be trusted. Hartmann makes a good case that this is a serious threat.

The same Republican strategist, Jerome Corsi, who engineered the Swift Boat slurs to defeat American war hero John Kerry in 2004, and the Obama birther lies that helped launch Trump’s nomination in 2016, is behind this latest maneuver.

Hartmann also points out that red state Republicans are already purging voter rolls in blue cities, the same strategy that disenfranchised four million mostly black voters helping Republicans steal the 2024 election from Kamala Harris.

The Washington Post’s article has done double damage duty. It gives the impression the Republican coup d’etat using the authoritarian playbook that Putin, Hitler, Orbán, and Erdoğan used to declare a fake national emergency to rig the election is a done deal. Discouraging Americans from voting is a form of voter disenfranchisement. But the article is also a distraction from the Epstein files, from the Clintons testifying, and from the SAVE Act being on life support.

Meanwhile, Trump is also building up the U.S. military for war with Iran setting up another excuse to declare a national emergency. This all looks bad. Considering Trump’s defiance of the SCOTUS ruling on tariffs and the Epstein Files Transparency Act, there seems to be nothing to stop him from making every unconstitutional move to keep the GOP in power.

But, the voices of reason, Joyce Vance and Robert Hubbell debunk claims that the Trump regime can simply declare a national emergency and take control of the 2026 elections. It’s simply not possible for Trump to regulate elections by executive order. Also, the polls show Republicans are in big trouble, worse than before the 2018 blue wave, which explains why they are running around like their hair is on fire.

So, check your voter registration regularly and make sure you have all necessary voter ID documentation. And VOTE BLUE!
