Happy Easter...
Nostalgia 🌸💝
If you came from a big Catholic working-class family in the 1960s like me, you might have similar childhood memories to mine. We were six kids, three boys and three girls, The Brady Bunch, but with the same birth parents.
We also had a ton of first cousins who lived in the neighboring suburbs west of Chicago. My mom was so creative and always made everything fun. On Halloween she crafted homemade costumes using those face paint wax crayons and old clothes to dress us up as gypsies or whatever her whim.
On Easter, mom sewed matching outfits for the girls and herself. We did Easter Egg hunts at grandma’s. My Aunt Joan always cheated and gave clues to the younger kids and I was thrilled just to find one. She broke my heart again when I found out she’s MAGA. Oh well. Bless her soul.

Anyway, the pagan holidays are fun for kids. That said, despite being baptized and raised Catholic, and attending a Catholic University (DePaul) I never learned much about what it all meant. In fact, it wasn’t until this year that I realized what “Holy Week” even is. Maybe I blocked it out.
But I still LOVE to dress up in costumes any chance I get.
I don’t know what I’m going for here, except that I really wanted to say, happy spiritual day to everyone. This morning I did my meditation and I plan on treating myself to some chocolate and champagne at some point.
I wish you all peace and kindness.

Happy Easter! I come from the south side of Chicago, and we always got together with all the cousins for every holiday. It’s too bad we’re now spread out across the country.
My favorite Easter memory was when my mom and dad would leave a trail of jelly beans from my sisters’ and my bed to the hiding Easter basket.
Happy Easter!! Mother sewed ALL of my clothes until … 7th grade! I dressed up every day for the office (in a few offices because I moved a lot when married -#1 & 2 - loved doing it when clothing fit well!! Now I don’t dress up often but still love it when I do. Suits, dresses, skirts (loved pencil skirts!) but more importantly the SHOES!! And boots high heels the higher the better. Hated flats now …… oh well I loved it!
Happy Easter 🐰
