Lorraine, Appreciate the summary eventhough it is depressing, If the Democratstake the House (hopefully the senate too) it will take very long hours to make a dent in the damage caused by the fool in the white house. Cleo is super cute, may she bring hours of joy and mischief!
Agreed TC, there's so much to fix. But we did a lot even with just the House in 2018, don't forget under Obama, goddess Pelosi is the one who got the Affordable Care Act through reconciliation. There's a lot that can be done there. Stay strong 💪🏻
The Democrats may not be able to do as much as we’d like, but I sure hope they get the chance to do it. The kitten is adorable, you did a great thing. Torties never lose all their spiciness but she’ll have fun with the ginger boy.
Lorraine Evanoff: You ask the right questions -- How much of the damage can be undone under the best of electoral results?
What is sadistic is the GOP running up the National Debt, so when it would come to programs that provide healthcare to all, real education in the sciences and humanities, scientific and medical research, subsistence care so each maintains at least a subsistence level of life -- Why, then, Mike Johnson ("Moses"!!!) will say, "We have to target these programs for deep cuts or elimination for the National Debt."
And Americans of short memory and sourcing Fox News will think, "We cannot support welfare, because that will bust the budget."
During GWB's Gulf Wars, I think the daily cost of war ran circa $1 Billion.
Like President Dwight David Eisenhower, the hero of D-Day, pointed out in his speech against the War Industrial Complex: Dollars spent on defense subtract from schools, hospitals, infrastructure.
That was 66 years ago. Well within my own lifetime (78).
My goodness.
Plus, the GOP plays the card, "2020 was rigged," to justify monstrous Gerrymandering.
And of course, the John Roberts Court on Gerrymandering: . . .
They ordered Alabama; Alabama DEFIED the Supreme Court; The Supreme Court AFFIRMED the Alabama rebellion!
So the GOP can Jim-Crow our elections in the Fall to keep the two Houses because, well, you see, the GOP Jim-Crow maintains the 2020 election was "stolen", so they have to intervene (i.e., gerrymander, rig) the Fall Elections.
They are so naked about it.
Meanwhile . . .
Meow, meow: I love our feline friends, who are much wiser than most of the politicians.
My God, the kitty in the drawer-niche is darling.
The kitty is wise, thoughtful, independent, and, affectionate . . . or at least satisfying her need for warmth by cuddling.
Kitties are among the most LOVABLE!
Actually, I have a soft spot for hawks and owls, too.
As always I appreciate your insight and the timeline cleanse is exactly what I needed. That KITTEN! Ohhhh she’s a heart melter. I’m so glad she’s in a loving home 💙
Thank you for this line: “Hitler lost the election then came to power appointed as chancellor and never left.” It astonishes me how often people who should know better get that wrong, that somehow Hitler was “elected.” (I’m thinking specifically of Michael Moore.)
thank you for the reminder of where we have been and where we could go depending on the next vote in Nov. Reaching all those who can vote to take away trumps power
I appreciate how you balance the dark with the light in your posts 😻 Thank you.
That's such an amazing compliment, thank you Jonji!🥰

Agreed, this is a real nail-biter Mamacat. And yes, you can see the spice in the eyes of my sweet tortico!😻
Can you adopt me? Not as cute as cat but still nice
Great!!!
Excellent post. Do you think that HCR in her post is talking about 2026 Fascist America or 1939 Nazi Germany? Déjà vu mon ami ?

Institutional Gravity is part of the forces that keep us together. Good insight.
