If you think this is maudlin, then know there's a maudlin that matters and this is one. A truly good share! Thanks.

Aww. Thanks for saying that Dorian. I was being so candid that I wasn’t sure. 🥰💗

Lorraine Evanoff: "It's a small world, after all!"

My now 20-year old grandson was circa three when he insisted on multiple rounds through "Small World", with the little boys big eyes in wonders at the magical surroundings, ever changing, ever beautiful, ever musical. Around and again and again and again, and his big eyes absorbed the Wonder.

ICE kidnapping the children is a very serious crime against human values and is traumatic to the little ones and those who love them, and, frankly, to grandparents like you and me who know what is the wonder of a little child's innocence and love.

California is where MAGA cannot enter: Go, Xavier Becerra!

Our grand kids wanted to go again too Armand! Little TJ cried after the Winnie the Poo ride because he didn't want it to end.

Yes Becerra!

Tears are often the soul's release, a momentary shedding of our tensions, fears, and anger to remember the love and gratefulness that abide there. Thanks for sharing that with us, and letting our own souls feel a little of what you felt.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

This is a great point, Mike. Tears are necessary before we can regain our strength. Thank you my friend!

A high school friend showed me pics of her daughter's family out from the east coast and enjoying Disneyland. You always deliver relevance and inspiration. Just you being you and all that you care about is enough. Your ability to express it bound with pictures of joy. You be you. The world is better having you here!

Lisa you melted my heart, thank you. Love love love you. 💗

You were busy living Lorraine which gave you fodder for your only slightly delayed writing. At the end of the day which was truly more important? Loved your pics by the way. Sweet family and truly intrepid or glutton for punishment to have done Disney over three days. Either way, those memories had to be worth it all.

Lol! When my hubby told me 3 days I thought he must be joking. But we survived and it was worth it. 🥰💗🙏🏻

Really niece piece! Your comment on the lack of maga signs in Florida, had the same experience attending a funeral last week in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The ONLY sign I saw was "Trump For Prison". It was refreshing. And the one comment that stuck out at the funeral was "she is better off than us".😢 Really sad commentary about where this country is at the moment.

Wow TC! In TX that’s amazing. Loving that resistance there. You’re right, the GOP has even made funerals and the celebration of loved ones’ lives worse. 💔

Sending hugs 🥰

Awwww Lorraine thanks for sharing. I grew up going to Disneyland every year. Then the We are the World video 😭 What a fun little trip in time you gave me. Also I marvel at the idea of our current reality and how I NEVER would have imagined this reality back then. It’s lovely to see people still come together in real time ♥️

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Tara! It was a magical time and I’m happy it brought good memories. Indeed looking back I never could have imagined the horrors the GOP are inflicting on us. We have to bring back kindness and community in November. Sending hugs.

Glad you had such a wonderful time. Thanks for the photos. We simply do not have something like that in that size in Germany, for better or worse, who knows. Just wonderful you all had a splendid time.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Oh that's right Jay, maybe the closest is Disney Paris? It's not for everyone but if you get a chance it's worth it. Hugs!

Lorraine, yes Disney Park Paris is the nearest. I confess, my body never liked places with more than 8-12 people and we have the Heide-Park with a big Rollercoaster and other stuff, even as a kid it felt too much.

Wow Lorraine, there is always room for "a maudlin story", especially the way you related a personal day out to the cruelty of ICE (aka Trump) and in a way we can all relate to-we all need it more to say focused on the task at hand! Thanks!!

(oh, when I first lived in Miami, I thought I would take a drive to Key Largo. expecting a lighter version of Key west, which I had never been to either, but somewhat busy. Wow, just a 2-lane rd with sand shoulders and a bait shack every 100 yards and some fishing boat tours, which I took and loved it) Is it still so quaint?

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Thank you Fraser!

And yes, it's still just a two lane crazy highway to Key Largo, through the Everglades, there was even a prison sign, not sure if it was Alligator Alcatraz. But it was very haunting to drive through all that.

But it was worth it just for Key Largo Fisheries, which has really expanded over the years with a cool tiki bar and live music and still the best fresh crab claws and conch around!

Yes, I think that was where I ate! Yes, it was spookyish back then too!!

We caught some dolphin-boy can they jump and fight! I love it on the ocean:)
