According to Jay Kuo, “This treatment of citizens by federal authorities makes a mockery of Justice Kavanaugh’s concurring opinion in the California ICE enforcement cases, dubbed the “Kavanaugh Stop.” ICE agents may use a person’s “apparent ethnicity” as a “relevant factor” but only in combination with other, nonracial factors when deciding whom to target. Kavanaugh also insisted that “immigration stops” are a minor inconvenience for “individuals who are legally in the country…typically brief and they may promptly go free after making clear to the immigration officers that they are U.S. citizens or legally in the United States.” Yet, those attacked in the middle of the night in Chicago were detained for many hours after proving identification.”

These days the bad news outweighs the good. But there was some good news last week. First, the “commander in chief” and his Ken Doll Barbie “Secretary of War” made fools of themselves forcing 800 military leaders to attend in person an unhinged Trump rally speech at Quantico. None of the military leaders applauded and their steely silence came off as defiance. The military code of conduct doesn’t allow military leaders to applaud, but ignorant arrogant Trump and Hegseth somehow expected otherwise. Like Trump’s birthday military parade when soldiers showed defiance with sloppy marching formation, this stunt was a dud.

Second, contrary to what several big pundits predicted, Democrats did not cave on the shutdown. Our leaders united in steely defiance of the disastrous GOP “continuing resolution.” Other pundits claimed Democrats would get the blame for the shutdown, and yet the country blames Trump and Republicans over Democrats by wide margins.

The timing of the Quantico stunt and the shutdown is obvious. Democrat Adelita Grijalva, elected to Congress on September 23^rd promising the 218^th signature on the petition to force a vote to release the Epstein files, has not been sworn in because Speaker Mike Johnson adjourned the House. 100 Democrats remained in the chamber chanting “shame on you” providing a stark image of a half-empty chamber shared by the press and on social media.

Meanwhile, Republicans are proudly proclaiming to have achieved 47% of Project 2025, with no sign of stopping. Some believe they have no intention of ever reopening the government and will continue to push the limits. Even the Chicago apartment building raid was beyond deplorable Justice Kavanaugh’s limits.

Republicans can end abortion rights, health care, safety nets, free speech, due process, for now, giving Americans a taste of complete annihilation of our democracy. Let them take a Thelma and Louise flying leap over a cliff. Americans hate Project 2025, and in steely defiance, we will win the midterms, impeach Trump, win 2028 and hold Nuremburg trials.

This weekend I got some much needed beach, volleyball, and girlfriend time. I was so out of shape, my face was bright red and I’m still sore from my workout. Worth it!
