My God, I am lost for words.
I grew up in LA and Orange Counties; in the 1950s I learned of the strength of Santa Ana winds; but never foresaw that hurricane strength winds would thrust a wildfire massive areas of the best neighborhoods in California, which is tantamount some of the finest neighborhoods and persons in the United States.
The news shows overtowering, omnipresent and raging flames of fires that rapidly spread, overwhelming first rescue efforts to contain damage or loss of life.
Goodness, Lorraine, please take care of yourself; take care of your loved ones.
You have a community who are growing in love with your friendship and want to continue the good fight for years to come.
Oh God, I worry so about all the pets. I don't know many people there except you and pray you'll be safe. When I lived there, I hated the Santa Ana winds because it meant the possibility of fires. But why now are there so many? Seems odd that now that djt has come on stage much more crap is occurring. And then Trump had to go and invite evil to earth.
Same here, Samantha, my heart breaks for all the critters in the wild. The Santa Anas remind me of growing up with tornadoes in the midwest. It's scary.
I never thought so much about evil before because there was no need to. Things seemed to be so different. Now there isn't as much peace surrounding us and hatred is in the air.
America was a much happier place, seemingly. Will it ever be again as it once was?
Hey kiddo, I never used to be a cynical person. This is going to take some getting used to. He’s nothing but vermin to me and I’m learning to show restraint in my dotage. HA! And why should I, I ask myself? I am so ticked off at our government for putting America in this fix. It may shorten so many lives and just may shorten mine. The stress is palpable in society.
Will the racist, bigots, Republican a-holes, schmucks, putzs, whatever the fluff you call them, stop. Stop blaming those who have the intelligence and are doing the right things. Just stop now!

Trump's demeanor is one of anger. It's a malignancy that will continue to spread throughout the entire nation unless it ceases to exist. It's like a venom. It must not remain in America's system. He is the serpent who is suffocating the goodness out of life of those who have the right to enjoy life of freedom here. He must not be allowed to suffocate more.
I have to be up now to give my pupper Gianina antibiotics round the clock every 12 hrs because she's been ill. It's motherhood all over again. That's why I'm feisty. Did Fluffles(sp) come back? Keep her inside now if she does, somehow.
Trump's method of leadership can be very damaging to a nation and to the world. Therefor it is wise that he is not put in authority for anything at any time for the sake of the protection of all mankind. (Is that a mouthful or is that a mouthful?)

I’m so so sorry my sweets - I remember those crazy winds.
Driving from Palm Springs to The Inland Empire my adorable little Suzuki Samurai was going 3 MPH with the peddle to the floor. I loved those winds back then, then the rag top was ripped completely off one corner into the Samurai. Came close to losing that battle before I could stop. The following weekend while house sitting I was on a pontoon in the middle of Lake Elsinore and from takeoff from shore to the middle off the lake a small brush fire had turned into being surrounded by fire. We watched the red fire retardant dropping down so close yet so it looked so small it like talcum powder in your hand.
The fires I loved the first few times turned into the description ii had heard - Devil Winds.
Watching those fires grow and grow is heartbreaking.

As I was searching for a photo of Floofles in your earlier posts, I was worried for her return. Then I read your reply in comments above that she was home. I so appreciate your photos and reflections. Something odd tho…I’ve been watching the terrible videos on and off today, such profound loss! I watched a reporter talking about a horse rescue stable as people search for their lost horses. I cannot imagine this kind of mega loss in so many communities. So I was focused on your kitty coming home. It’s like I could only solve one terrible moment at a time. The rest is beyond my heart to absorb all at once. Thanks for sharing and stay safe. ❤️

These fires used to happen ever 20-30 years. Now it's 3 times a year.
