Love for a country often reveals itself through concern for its future.

Whatever our convictions, I hope we never lose the ability to listen, reflect, and seek what preserves both freedom and our common humanity.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Beautifully said, thank you Antonio 🥰

The Trump travesty will end when the billionaires see he’s costing them more than giving them. But it may be a few rungs below the billionaires down to millionaires who will begin to notice thatTrump’s capture of the SEC decides to end market transparency and change corporate quarterly reporting and go to semi-annual reporting leaving shareholders in the dark. This follows his destruction of fiduciary duty requiring faithfully serving clients’ interest above their own in the realm of retirement accounts. Now it’s ok to steer the client into vehicles generating higher fees for brokers. He will likely pressure the Fed Governors’ to lower rates creating higher inflation while AI creates job losses that in turn create stagflation (see the 1970s for background info on what that looked like).

Maybe Floofles decides soon to come in from the cold for good?

Wow you know your finance Carol! Today I had a long conversation with my Silicon Valley VC friend on a project and it was eye-opening to learn that they're still dumping billions into OpenAI, SpaceX, trying to catch the next Anthropic. It's all a massive pyramid scheme to me and I'm pretty sure I'm right, it will pop like the Dot-Com bubble did. Anyway, We shall see how this all plays out. I'm sad to say they've gotten too good and figuring out how to artificially inflate the market and put everything off shore. Thanks for your great insights!

So glad you are on here, showing us how to be human amidst those trying to make us inhumane.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Bless you, Lisa and all the wonderful readers here. I'm glad to be on here too!🥰

Not sure I can track what you are saying but I know Lorraine can. Fortunately there are women out there who have educated themselves and bring it into words that can make sense to those who want to make sense of it all.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Ha! I know I was doing Silicon Valley speak a little there, but suffice it to say, it's all rigged for the billionaires.

And they have high powered accountants and corporate white shoe law firms that will pass on any and all secret info. One key though to remember: when Wall Street starts to entice you with, say “invest only $20 and you, too, can profit,” what they’re doing is offloading securities they see will fall in price so they’re looking for “a greater fool” thereby reaping the profits they’ve made by selling that security so they don’t suffer the loss. The buyer does. Watch “The Big Short” and the scene near the end when Brad Pitt is on the phone to European outfits to save the two young men’s profits and soak the unwary in Europe.

100% on the lack of enthusiasm on celebrating this 4th and any other as long as the crock in chief is in office, and your point on the "socialist democrats" winning 90% of the elections in the past 18 months is the only thing that keeps me positive. And you should have gone "Karen" on the bottle opener. As a VN vet that used an assault weapon to survive, it frosts me to no end to see these beer can warriors spouting off about the right to assault weapons. Join the military bro and volunteer for the infantry. I don't know of any veteran who experienced combat expounding on their right to an assualt wepaon. Sorry I went off. Have a peaceful 4th.

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

It's not just the "socialist democrats" though, it's all Democrats overall winning 90% of all the special the elections, over performing in 2025, etc.

Agreed, I'm still thinking about that stupid bottle opener, LOL!!

Bless you TC for your courage and bravery.

The "socialist democrats" was my attempt at sarcasm!

You’re entitled. Go off whenever you feel the need. I hate all the damage the damn things do to lives and I hate the collective inertia to get a handle on sanity.

Wonderful article, my friend. I hope you have a lovely day and thanks for continuing to inspire with your great work.

Lorraine I needed you in my substack feed and my life. ♥️ You’re giving me so much to think about but it’s peppered with your positivity and it’s a great way to digest all that is going on. Thank you for the time you put into this. I appreciate it more every single day 😘 Sending you love, light and gratitude!

Your words always help keep me going Tara. Love you sis. 🥰

Your feelings mirror mine completely, and I believe we're in majority good company. They're flailing, and they don't know it. How clever, an AR-15 bottle opener 🙄 Happy belated birthday to husband, and to my ndn, who is in her 70s and had a disastrous fall on hers. It matches the misery I'm feeling today. Thank you for giving me some hope. Floofles always perserveres! 😽

Lorraine Evanoff's avatar

Agreed, it's crazy to behold what's happening on this day in DC and elsewhere. I saw a post that fireworks vendors in deep red Tennessee barely sold anything and their shelves are packed.

Oh no! That's so scary about your ndn falling. It all does seem to be a dark moment right now. I'm praying for some good news and quick recovery soon, Jonji. Hugs 🥰

Thank you 🙏🏼 They're very kind and hardworking (still! In retail!) people. Red America is sputtering. Stay hopeful!! 🫂

Of course you'll celebrate because you have faith! And -- you have Floofles out there keeping guard in your garden. You're about as safe as anyone can be today! Cheers!

Lorraine Evanoff: Sorry, but I was amused at this juxtaposition:

"On Juneteenth I celebrated freedom from oppression. Yesterday, I celebrated my husband’s birthday." I wish my wife talked that way. But I am like most husbands and hear: "You don't listen. You are clueless." And I look so innocent as she tells me that! LOL!

I love the handsome pictures of your husband, especially with the kitties.

I hope, I hope with all my heart you are right in optimism about the future.

Lorraine, I am 78, and I don't think I will see it.

If my grandkids weren't here, and especially if I were single, I would go to the Iberian Peninsula -- whether Portugal or Spain. I could learn any of three languages well in a couple years (Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese). Even Germany (whose language I have mastered) is no haven for me, because the speedy, steady growth of the Far Right. Also France. In Barcelona, Madrid, or Toledo, I felt so local, with no worry about the rest of the world, and I just loved the people.

And Floofles. I love how gently you coax her. Look at how wise and deliberative she is. Her fluffiness and girth suggest she is healthy, and will wait for the next meal. But she cautiously approaches the bench, paws and sniffs, then slowly walks away. She is so independent!

Hello my friend. I was really struggling with this 4th. Did not feel like celebrating anything, never mind the assholes who are constantly setting off fireworks and whatever will make a loud noise, for their simplistic entertainment. It makes me mad because it scares so many pets and I can only imagine how the wildlife feels. Last night, I thought why the hell do we do this? Sure, it can be pretty at night, and a local, limited fireworks display for an hour is fine. But really, all the before and after bangs and booms really felt like being in a war zone. My poor kitty was under the sofa, even with all the windows closed and the A/C on high to disguise some of the noise.

However, in my mood not-to-celebrate, I had the idea "Let Freedom Ring," which led me to ferret out the audio of MLK's speech at the Lincoln Memorial at the March on Washington in 1963. I listened to it, and it transformed how I felt. I stopped be pissed off at everything that's going on, and was inspired by his words. Fwiw, We Will Overcome! Love and hugs, Kate 🌻❤️🤷‍♀️😻

Lorraine, as I write this, the 4th is over and done with. Thankfully it was all quiet down here. While my son and I were shopping Saturday I bought a box of beautiful Bing cherries from the Chelan Valley. Been there a couple of times. Beautiful part of the country back when. Thankfully no one found it necessary to set off any firecrackers.

Floofie is a lucky kitty to have you guys for parents.

Great pep talk Lorraine! did you hear about the 200 masked patriots-thanks Trump!

Yes, Floofles will be glad to see you🥰
