Sugar high...
Throwing salt in our candy.
Is it just me, or is calling our exuberance and overwhelming support for VP Harris as our presidential candidate a “sugar high” condescending at best and sexist at worst?
Self-serving doomsday troll James Carville shot off his mouth. Even Joyce Vance echoed the “sugar high” trope.
Instead of arguing, here are some quotes from powerful women.
"When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid." ~ Audre Lorde
"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn't be that women are the exception." ~ Ruth Bader Ginsburg
"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any." ~ Alice Walker
“The true republic: men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.” ~ Susan B. Anthony
“When you lift up women, you lift up families, you lift up communities, you lift up economies – and you lift up America.” ~ Kamala Harris
Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. ~ G.D. Anderson
“The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.” ~ Gloria Steniem
“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” ~ Shirley Chisholm
“A woman is like a tea bag — you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Be the type of girl that climbs the ladder wrong by wrong.
– Mae West (Okay I couldn’t help adding this bit of brilliance.)
“Folks, let’s double down! This is a really good moment to ask the young people in your life if they’re registered. If they’re not, offer to help! Remember, not everyone has a parent or guardian who will walk them through the process. Offer to be their voting doula! Voter intimidation is a real thing, and knowing there is someone they can reach out to with questions will make a big difference! Don’t forget to tell everyone you know about Blue Voter Guide! This amazing tool, which enables voters to learn about everyone and everything on their ballots—yes, even judges!—is simply incredible.” ~ Jessica Craven

When it comes to strength I have observed that many men show what I believe is faux strength when thinking about strength of will and not only focusing physical strength.
Two observations:
1. The strength of a pride of lions is in the females. They do the hunting and they take care of the cubs. The male occasionally are useful fighting packs of hyenas and they provide sperm.
2. Scientists—men— have promoted that men were the hunters and women were the gatherers. Recent archeological digs have revealed that women were also hunters.
Women are weak only in the minds of the weak minded.
I’m very happy with this turn of events, much happier than I expected to be. I wanted Biden to stay put, but when he announced he was dropping out and supporting Kamala, and when I saw her dance, I realized what a relief it was.
