I joined Substack after Elon Musk took over Twitter.com.
These days, I am diligently focused on finishing my 4th Louise Moscow novel, while holding a full-time day job, writing political analysis (hereās my January 6th piece), and keeping up with current events.
Shunning the news-for-profit NYTimes and WaPo (but checking their daily headlines for important stories that I look up elsewhere), my subscription dollars are better spent on The Guardian, Daily Beast, Reuters, and Substack.
But now my daily emails have become almost unmanageable, and I am temporarily forced to limit my Substack screen time. So, each morning, I triage over 300 emails for the most crucial updates.
To that end, my daily reading is strictly political news-based Substacks, including Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Joyce Vance, Parker Molloy, The Hartman Report, Heidi Siegmund Cuda, Hopium Chronicles, Greg Olear, Status Kuo, Abortion Every Day, Steven Beschloss, Heather Cox Richardson, and others.
NOTE: For pieces that bring doomsday messages, I promptly move on. Who has time for fake anti-Biden polls? Normally Robert Reich is brilliant, but WTAF? Ā Ā
My favorite shorter concise reads include E. Jean Carroll, Mary L. Trump, Alicia Norman, Jeff Tiedrich, The GenZ Perspective, as well as inspirational, poetry, writing, art, fashion, photography, economics, and music Substacks.
I donāt know of any Substacks for humor. Suggestions for giggles are welcome.
My own Substack posts are limited to under 250 words, with short easy-to-read paragraphs, headings, and photos. Ā
Overall for me, Substack is the best of all the Twitter alternatives!
Welp, this Substack ends at 250 words.
Is that too short? Too long?
Your feedback always helps.
Love you, Substackers!š
P.S. Hereās last nightās sunset.

Through the curve of a glass, the sun descends,
Amber nectar glows, daylight's quiet end.
Maui's gentle eve, in January's calm,
Where waves whisper soft, a seaside psalm.
Sky brushed in hues, blueās soft retreat,
Clouds streak the vast, in sunsetās sweet.
Silhouetted palms, fronds against the light,
Frame tranquil seas, horizons bright.
A balcony's rail, stark lines that hold,
A glass of sunset, a story told.
Natureās majesty, in quiet display,
Whispers of Hawaii, at the close of day.
Given your time constraints, I am honored you spend a little of that time reading as much of it as you do reading some of my work.
