Donald Trump’s unsolved mystery

Since Ronald Reagan, Republicans have mastered the false narrative, such as abortion and the welfare queen, to win elections. Trump used the tactic during the Biden debate, reverting to immigration no matter what debate question, while CNN hosts refused to moderate him.
But now, Trump has been rambling incoherently, botching narratives during rally speeches, press conferences, and even the debate with Kamala Harris. Trump’s inability to control his speech and stick to campaign talking points gives him away as cognitively impaired. Trump’s handlers have been unable to keep Trump focused on the narratives, which are already being boosted by the Russian misinformation networks.
Even low brain wattage George W. Bush with his limited vocabulary was able to stick to the script and keep the election close enough for the hanging chads, swift-boaters, and SCOTUS, to finish off Al Gore and John Kerry. Trump could spoon feed voters on the right and in the middle with fabricated lies like “partial-birth” abortion. But instead, he absurdly claims Democrats are killing babies AFTER birth.
Or he could stick with immigration, which is a serious issue, and say that only he has the votes to pass legislation or something that makes sense. Instead he spews easily disprovable lies about immigrants being rapists and terrorists committing voter fraud and eating our pets. By the way, all Trump accusations are projections.
And yet, the GOP continues to back Trump. Republican Congress members could have passed expansive bi-partisan border legislation, but on Trump’s order they killed it. Had they passed it, many Republicans could have leveraged it to their advantage. But now, even deep red districts of Ted Cruz in Texas and Rick Scott in Florida are at risk of flipping blue.
While the Harris-Walz campaign rakes in endorsements from union leaders, the biggest celebrities in sports and music, and even many high-level Republicans, the GOP has turned into a grotesque freak show. So, what is up with the GOP? One word: Kompromat.
Ten years ago, because it shares an 818-mile border with Russia, Finland began teaching students to recognize misinformation. Most Americans, including me, were brought up through the public education system, where we were introduced to civics. And yet, at a time when teaching critical thinking is more important than ever, Republicans want to destroy our guaranteed education to keep their base gullible. None of these Republican narratives are new, but they are now neatly assembled in a much-pilloried playbook called “Project 2025.”
So, again, what keeps the GOP in lockstep with Trump to their own demise? Last week, Trump publicly repeated the same threat to Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy that got him impeached and the GOP supported him. In July 2016, Trump got the GOP to change their platform in favor of Russia over Ukraine. The bottom line is, when Trump goes down, he’ll take the GOP down with him, because of Russia.
The truth will come out and I believe it will be through indictments, but not until after the inauguration. To reveal the mystery once and for all, VOTE BLUE on November 5th.

Lorraine Evanoff: The most offensive feature of the current GOP its race-baiting on a scale that begets racial violence, as in Ohio, with obscene neo-fascist tropes against good, innocent Haitian immigrants.
When Kamala Harris trounces Trump on November 5th, our job is not done, because we have de-facto Jim Crow in places like Texas, Alabama and Florida.
Reagan started his campaign in Philadelphia.
Not the Philadelphia of Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed, where the liberating philosophy of all human beings are equal with inalienable rights.
No. Not THAT Philadelphia.
Rather, in Philadelphia where white-supremacists had killed three civil rights leaders in the '60s, forcing FBI Agents, as I vividly remember as a then current-event, to walk in their dress suits and shoes through the wetlands and lake to comb for the bodies and even the car of the murdered victims.
THAT is where Reagan started his campaign.
And it developed from there to racial baiting about the "Welfare Queen."
And the enabling of management and slow dismantling of unions.
It began with Reagan.
We need conservatives of the stripe of Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek, economists who recognize social welfare but who urge free market and fiscal restraint.
I fundamentally disagree with them, but we need two responsible parties for The People.
Unfortunately, there is only ONE Party that now represents traditional values of humanity and ordered liberty: The Democrats.
The lock-step behind the Orange-Racist is predictable from the Lee-Atwood school of vicious politics.
You write so very well, Lorraine, and I LOVE your work.
Thank you for today's post. Your message is important, and I for one feel the need to share!
Oh, God willing, ALL, Vote Blue. I didn't watch last night but I did listen to the discussions later. I am not one to add much to this political climate, so I won't. I am going to leave it up to the experts like you Lorraine.
