We don’t run a nickel and dime operation over at Switter’s World. Late in December, I decided to do a subscriber drive and used the infamous National Lampoon cover where some guy is holding a gun to the head of a black and white dog with the not at all coercive “buy this magazine or the dog gets it.” It turns out that Lorraine was my 200th subscriber and was also the CFO of National Lampoon when the cover was published. If that’s not a good enough reason for handing out $100 trillion, then I don’t know what is. And best of all, that instant wealth has not changed Lorraine at all. She remembers who her friends are, so thanks for the shout out.
Here’s to new friends, strange coincidences, and unbelievably generous expense budgets. Thanks, Lorraine. Now I need to leave, because I’m allergic to cats!
Floofles has been coming here almost every day for eight years, ever since I found her in the yard with a little of kittens.
After the kittens were weaned, I trapped, neutered and re-released Floofles.
A couple of the kittens survived for a few years in the canyon, but I was never able to trap any of them.
Another adorable standard issue short hair kitty, Sneaky, started showing up two years ago and has been a regular here too. I'm so worried though, he hasn't shown up for three nights, which is very unusual, he's usually here every night😿
Always love to read your "stuff"; and that term is by no means meant to do anything but convey loving, thoughtful, grateful, written snuggles from a pal of the universe to all of us who are fortunate enough to read it. There is a time tested reason why Floofles trusts you and looks forward to your return from the seven corners of the earth each season 🤓 You do what no one else can... for lots of Floofles out there 😌🫵👊😘
Floofles Came Inside!!! That’s fabulous. I took my ex-feral cat for his first car trip Sunday. It was to a friends house who has a few mice dwelling inside. He didn’t catch any, but I wasn’t surprised as it was a day of Firsts for him. First time in the cat carrier, car, a different house, etc. Hoping to get back in another day or two for more mousing adventures.
Your feral finally adopted you Nora? That's amazing!!! How long did it take? As you can see, our feral cats in the canyons are so wild they never come close. So this is a huge milestone for Floofles.
One came last Fall and never left. Follows me within 2 feet of me everywhere I go in the house. The 2nd one spent 4 nights last week inside the house. He’s older and I think this winter was a bit too much for him. He’s lost weight and comes by just about daily for food and head scratches. He will bite me in a nanosecond if I pet him past his shoulders though. He’s been coming around since Fall too, but still 60% feral I’d guess. He’s my work in progress. 😂
Oh! Sorry I didn't include Floofles Instagram. If anyone wants to see more of the critter adventures up in our canyons, here's the link:

I'm a hugger too and sending you one, full stop! And yes, you are beautiful and smart, so there :-). Also, FUR BABIES!!! Oh My Goodness, both kitties!
Floofles literally just came inside to eat right now!😻
OMG so FLUFFY!!
She's the Floof!
Oh my biggest hug to you Alicia. You are beautiful, smart and FUNNY which is the highest praise. Love you!
Thank you, love you too sis, you're amazing!!!
You too🥰😻
I’m thrilled to be mentioned here, Lorraine, and to see Tulips for Elsie magically sitting there. (The magic of Substack and the U.S. Postal Service.)
It is the magic of Substack Jonathan! Just sorry it took me so long to post this. Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift. Love it!
Did I hallucinate you posting it previously?
No I posted the photo in a note before. But I wanted to post it in a proper Stack!

It's so funny how that happened, the magic of Substack and National Lampoon!
I love the name so much - Floofles. 😍😻
Thanks Shawn! She's so Floofy!
Love the bobcat and so glad to hear Floofles has finally decided to accept some lovin.
I had you in mind too, Jena, I know you get this stuff. The owl is out hooting tonight too!
The critters connect us :-)
True, spirit animals! The howls were hooting like crazy last night. It actually woke my hubby up.
I love it when they do that. I don’t mind them keeping me awake.
It's amazing to me. I love it too!
They are speaking on many different levels. I am doing my best to listen - Not just with my ears but with the “all of me.”
The eight year absence suggests the cat may have been on an extended search for something and finally realized where it was.
Give it a hug for me.
Sorry for any confusion, Malcolm.

Regardless, cats know a good home.
Yes! Thank you. I swear they bring their friends😹
Cloud, Mostly Siamese
Comes to me on the couch
Legs propped on a stool
Sitting beneath them she looks up
Errrmm she says
Then leaps up beside me
Perches atop a 2x3 foot cardboard
Empty cat food delivery box
Covered with a 2x3 foot rug sample
It's her scratch pad
for brisk claw sharpening
And showing off
A caress and she relaxes
Casual stuff
A finger brushing the top of her head
A thumb behind an ear
Intermittent love.
Her eyes glaze
The she starts, gives me a look
Don't hypnotize me!
Rolls around on her back
See how beautiful I am?
A minute later she jumps down.
Ten minutes she is back
For a repeat performance
Of intermittent love.

Wonderful. The Cat Distribution Network is working, ha ha!
I am also enjoying Jonathan Potter’s “Tulips for Elsie,” but no trillion dollar banknotes😢
Lovely! I have it on my night stand!
Welcome home. Big hugs! 😽😻
Thanks so much Wayne!🥰
