As a 77-year-old boomer, we had great music from Motown and the British Invasion of the 1960s through the 80s, although I didn't listen as much in the 80s. Burt Bacharach (ends with ch) was unbelievably prolific and was nearly perfect with every song he wrote. (There's a certain irony about this writer's unproven proofreading chops correcting anyone else's mistake....)
Steely Dan? It saddens me that Donald Fagan was/is a jerk but I loved Steely Dan, not to be confused with Stealer's Wheel, a whole n'other genre).
Congratulations on 15 years in Hollywood! How exciting to be in on the inside of the industry. Question: when do you sleep with all that, the novels, and Substack? Never mind, rhetorical question.
Also loved the Doobie Brothers but tops was Al Jarreau - what a voice, what musicality! As for the name Yacht Rock? I'm a geezer. I'll adopt that name on its way out if habit has anything to do with it. Rock on, Lorraine.
You got to live at the best times in music Carol!! I hate to admit it's been 15 years in just this job. Wow I'm old! I've been in the Hollywood biz for ummm, let's just say, forever!
I completely agree, Al Jarreau was my soundtrack through college. Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life too!
Do not waste time being jealous. We also had the Milli Vanilli scandal and that song "Yummy, Yummy, I've Got Love in My Tummy" and I don't even want to go there. Top all that off with "The Archies." '
I bought 2 of Jarreau's albums and the rhythm and production was incredibile. Stevie? Stevie could do no wrong. But dig up Martha & the Vandellas' "Dancin' in the Street" released, they said, to tone down the street riots. Marvin Gaye was a coauthor and played the drums. If that doesn't get your motor running then you're certified dead.
And yeah. We did have the best music. And most of it's still available.
Michael McDonald changed the entire vibe of the Doobie Brothers. I love his voice. His solo album "Motown" is excellent. He covers Motown hits. Donald Fagan seems like a sweetheart.😂😂 Glad your feline explorer is doing well.
Watching it now... I loved all these groups and had many of these albums... I had no idea about any of this but it's fascinating and fun to watch and see it backwards. Really great therapy blanket. Thanks for your hands in it and sharing it here!
Loved Yacht Rock Doc!

WOW! Lorraine, LOVE NAtional Lampoon - You are most amazing my dear
It was a wild ride that's for sure. Its' also how I met my hubby, who produced National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Lots of laughs. Thanks Laura! 🥰
My beloved Low Bar Chorale is doing an all-Yacht Rock show later this month & it’s going to be sooo cool! I wish you could be there 🛥️
No way!! I wish I could be there. Will it be Zoomed?
No, I wish we would start livestreaming but I’ll be sure to take some videos to share
I can’t wait to watch it. I grew up in the same genre! I am not surprised by your clandestine adventures.
You'll love it too then Stanley!!
I did and I do.
My wife and too!
Yachtrock - I've got to see it, Lolo. You and I had the same soundtrack of our middle school and high school years. "Therapy blanket" - perfect!
Yes! I knew that about you Andy. Therapy hugs!!🥰
You make us feel privy to stuff we would never glimpse in our modest lives toots; always unselfish, never pretentious, just one of the gang… ❤️🔥
This does feel like a safe space, for now, toots. After all you and I met on line so it can't be all bad. Love yo!
Glad Floofles is back What a traveler.
Yes! She's the little survivor. Thanks Steve!

OMG, I just watched the Yacht Rock documentary. immediately it too decades off my life, at least for the time it took to view the film.
LOL! In a good way I hope, Stanley. You mean you feel younger, right? I watched it 3 times!
Yes, it proves there was life after Leo Sayer.

No way! I'll download that Motown album now. It must be good. Motown is my fave genre. Thanks Charles!
