I’m a Viet Nam Vet. I believe war is the ultimate example of human failure of reason and sanity. However, I recognize that countries need to protect their citizens as best they can from bellicose countries. I did not believe Viet Nam met this criteria as the war did not involve us until we interjected ourselves into a civil war after General DeGaul blackmailed us to protect French colonialism.

Russia is a big threat to all of Europe and Europe is integral to our security. Therefore, I loved the video and support its message.

Well said, Jim. Viet Nam was also needlessly prolonged for political reasons.

Thank you. You're my hero.💙🙏🏻

We are quickly and all too quietly losing the women and men who fought and lived through WWII, especially those who braved the beaches on D-Day, who broke the wall of Nazis holding the Atlantic and continued to threaten Britain and ships at sea; who leveled their troops and finally took Paris after brutal months of winter battles in the forests and fields south of Normandy. My own uncle was among them and lived to tell that tale, but then never returned after going on to fight again in Korea. He was one of all my relatives who wore the many uniforms of our nation, on the ground, at sea and in the air.

So that when the miserable Orange Ogre told the world these women and men were fools, and losers and suckers the final rage within me hit its utmost limit and I understood how deep his passion ran against this country, how far he would go to undermine it to serve his own ends.

As much as we remember the women and men who serve, to keep their memory in our hearts, we must never forget the traitors to their memory either. The traitors to all lovers of democracy and freedom.

Alan, your account of your Uncle’s serving our country in 2 wars, sacrificing his life in Korea, only to hear the offensive ridicule, slander and slur of military loss of life from the supposed “leader,” really Hit me Harder, than when it was 1st reported. I was disgusted & outraged then.

Now, I’m beyond Furious, that this Convicted Felon of 34 Counts, who is Known to have Paid for a Deferment. A known coward. Is still being allowed to run for President. Has repeatedly shown to be a Traitor. Continues to insult our military.

Your Uncle and All who sacrificed for Our Nation and Freedoms Deserve our Gratitude and Respect.

Thank you, Kali. You and I share those feelings. I never knew my uncle but his family became my second (first in many respects) and their home was mine in most ways for a long time. His wife, my aunt Lily, never remarried and his youngest, my age, grew up without a father at all. Those wounds, those feelings, stay, and when touched by such harmful words are reopened in ways that can not heal in some fashions. Although I miss her very much, I'm glad Peggy was not here to hear them. Like us, she was an artist but far too sensitive for politics. She was smart enough to run away to Paris when she was younger. And she had a wonderful life in France. Liberated in the land her father helped to liberate.

How brave and wise of your cousin Peggy to “run” to Paris, to find healing for her heart and soul. What an exquisitely beautiful way to be closer to her father in a spiritual as well as earthly, practical way as only an artist could be. I’m deeply touched you’ve taken the time to share this with me. Merci.

I’ve only been to Paris, and Provence once, a dream come true, as J’ai moi un petite Francais. Je suis lie’ a Maurice Utrillo et Suzanne Valadon.

One of the many highlights of my journey, was a brief visit to the art supply store on the banks of the Seine. Filled from old wood floors to the ceiling with myriad tubes of paints and pastels, where the Expressionists & Impressionists who’ve so inspired me often bought their supplies. Just standing surrounded by the atmosphere of all of their creative spirits, breathing in the inspiration with joy and gratitude for seeing in person much of what had inspired them.

Suzanne Valadon. A name I have not seen anyone repeat since grad school. How marvelous. I think of her portrait of Satie every time I hear the Gymnopédie, which I listen to often (I'm such a dullard). And it is true what you say, how moved and fulfilled one can become in places touched by hands you have admired, even when you don't know who they were, don't know them by name; only know them by the work they have done and left behind.

The worst is that's the intention, to outrage and anger us because it makes us weak. It's disgusting. Stay strong, everyone, for those who paid the biggest price. Resist. 💙

I cannot imagine what those young men in the D-Day landing crafts were thinking as they neared the Normandy beaches.

I can only hope and try to live a life that is decent and good enough to justify their sacrifices.

Lorraine, I have a serious question for you since you are so well connected. Is it true that one of the networks—not Fox— is working on a new soap opera based upon Trumpery with a name “As the Stomach Turns”?

Ha ha ha!

But seriously, Trump's team is trying to block the sale of 'The Apprentice' the movie, and has sent a cease and desist letter to the filmmakers behind the biopic.

The viewpoint on the Wall is stunning. I had no idea it took all that distance to properly recognize and witness those 50,000 plus Vietnam Vets' who gave everything. Thank you for including that image. I was a protestor of that war. The appalling "welcome home" those Vets got ... that, too, was stunning. They simply signed up or were drafted. The war wasn't their idea. They just served and risked their lives. SMH.
