Before the debate, many of us made safe predictions about how it would go. Either Biden, who is normally sharp, energetic, and compassionate, would have a fiery response if Trump became bombastic, or Biden would voice concern if Trump showed continued signs of cognitive decline. But no one predicted that Biden would appear very pale and muddled.
Let me preface by saying, I do NOT do conspiracy theories. But a bad cold or laryngitis would not explain how, the very next morning, Biden appeared at a rally fully energized with his voice back to normal. Now, there are calls for an investigation into what might have happened in the hours leading up to the debate.
Bob Woodward, of the legendary Woodward and Bernstein who first blew the lid off the Watergate cover-up, suggested that “something happened” before the debate that threw Biden off his game. While I disagree with some of Woodward’s innuendo on Biden’s performance, I agree with his suggestion that Biden may have had a fight with someone before taking the stage.
Having written four spy thrillers based on real-life “bankers grave” mysteries, all involving Russian “mafiya” tactics, my mind immediately went to the possibility that Biden had received some kind of threat before going on stage.
Others are calling for an investigation into possible tampering with Biden’s food or beverage in the hours leading up to the debate. Jack Hopkins brings up “Trump holdovers and loyalists embedded” in D.C. many of whom are still in Biden’s Secret Service detail.
While I hope this is not true, nothing would surprise me with the Republican party’s dirty tricks anymore. It’s entirely plausible that some insider helped pull off a two-pronged attack to sabotage Biden in the debate: Trump using a Gish Gallop tactic that went completely unchecked by CNN moderators, and someone messing with Biden himself before the debate.
It was shocking how quickly many on the left showed their lack of backbone and political savvy by panicking and calling for Biden to step aside, instead of being outraged at Trump’s propaganda speech and concerned for President Biden’s wellbeing.
For every one of those like The Bulwark whom I have now blocked on Substack and Twitter for continuing to call for Biden to step aside, there are two more who showed themselves to be level-headed voices of reason whom I have now followed.
We shall see if anything more comes out about foul play. Biden would never publicly disclose national security threats before a thorough investigation. But I hope this possibility is being taken seriously.

After almost 36 hours of overwhelming anxiety from the disgusting knee-jerk responses to the debate, yesterday morning the dark clouds lifted and I played volleyball in Hermosa Beach with my squad of amazing women.
We’re all around the same age, independent, and accomplished. Just working out on the courts (women’s doubles) and sitting around chatting made me feel even better. So much so, I walked down to the shore and did some headstands in the sand.

I don’t do twitter but do subscribe to several You Tube channels. Like you, the Bulwark is no longer one of them. Am totally and completely over all the naysayers. So glad Adam Kinzinger doubled down on his enthusiasm for supporting the President along with many others. Jen Rubin, Jasmine Crockett both telling people to just get a grip and take a breath! Just stop already with the Chicken Little sky is falling hysteria. As for that rag the NYT, well that Gray Lady needs to stop her presses, lock her doors and walk out into the Hudson and drown herself. The Philadelphia Inquirer got it right with its headline for trump to drop out for the good of the country.
We may never know what happened with the President prior to the thing CNN called a debate. But I’m convinced that it will never happen again. July 11 is coming up so stay tuned.
Considering Biden’s great speech the next day in North Carolina I felt something is wrong here. Adding the actions of the SCROTUS and Judge Cannonball I’d say something is definitely rotten in Denmark.
